Perhaps one of the most important tests that needs to be performed on your vehicle every year is your MOT.

As the year rolls on, your MOT or service will be due once again, and it will be time to get booked in to your local garage before you know it. At Charminster Auto Repairs, we pride ourselves on providing a professional and experienced MOT testing at great prices. If you’re worried that your vehicle will fail, we can carry out a pre-MOT inspection to identify any potential problems that might occur and clearly explain to you any issues so that you are aware of what you’re likely to face.

When is it due?

Your MOT will be due once a year on the same date; you’re previous MOT certificate will have the details of when your last test was conducted and when your next one is due. If you are unsure when your MOT is due, use our online tool to enter in your registration and it will tell you when you’re next MOT should be booked in.

It is recommended that you book in for a service once a year, or every 12,000 miles, depending on which comes first. We can offer full or interim services, to make sure there are no issues with your car. Our qualified mechanics will do the required checks including changing the engine oil, oil filter and air filter to give your car a longer life.

So what’s the deal?

When you book in for your MOT, we’ll run the test and let you know if your car has passed or failed. If it has passed we’ll issue an MOT certificate (VT20 form) to you and you can come and collect your car when it’s convenient and drive away safely. If your vehicle fails, we’ll issue a VT30 form with details of why it hasn’t passed.

It’s up to you then if you want to get the work done, we will happily do the work for you and let you know upfront how much it will cost so that you can get back on the road ASAP. Alternatively, you can come back to us once the required repairs have been made and we’ll run the test again so that you can get your VT20 pass MOT certificate.

We’ll conduct the test whilst you wait in our upstairs waiting area complete with refreshments and comfy seating, or you can leave your vehicle with us and come back later when the work is done.
